Periods 8-1, 8-4, 8-6

  1.  Warm-up with Sticky Note thinking activity
  2.  Review procedures for “Pop Up” discussions about “Fish Cheeks” and how you will be graded/ how the grade counts
  3.  Round 1, Pop Up Discussion
  4.  Midpoint Reflection
  5.  Round 2–Pop Up Discussion (Periods 1 and 6 will finish Round 2 tomorrow)

All classes will begin with a quick reflection on the pop up discussion tomorrow.

 

Period 8-5

  1. Finish the “Fish Cheeks” Question Trail if you did not do so last week.
  2.  Finish last week’s Quickwrite if you did not do so and turn in to Ms. Hamilton.
  3.  10-15 Minutes of http://www.noredink.com practice module on Commonly Confused Words
  4.  Read your library book

Today’s focus was recording a book chat for each student’s current independent read.  Topics to be discussed and recorded in Seesaw are below.  Recordings should have been at least 4 minutes but no more than 5 minutes.  While many students were able to successfully complete the assignment in class, several did not which indicates:

  1.  Student needs to work on time management.
  2.  Student is not being a mindful reader and really engaging with the book or has read very little.

Please take time to talk to your child about his/her current reading goal for his/her book; you can see this on the blue bookmarks we completed las week (see photo below).

Students could also finish yesterday’s  Question Trail; those who had everything completed could use any extra time for reading.
