Today’s focus was recording a book chat for each student’s current independent read.  Topics to be discussed and recorded in Seesaw are below.  Recordings should have been at least 4 minutes but no more than 5 minutes.  While many students were able to successfully complete the assignment in class, several did not which indicates:

  1.  Student needs to work on time management.
  2.  Student is not being a mindful reader and really engaging with the book or has read very little.

Please take time to talk to your child about his/her current reading goal for his/her book; you can see this on the blue bookmarks we completed las week (see photo below).

Students could also finish yesterday’s  Question Trail; those who had everything completed could use any extra time for reading.

Period 8-1:

  • Turn in homework
  • 15 minutes of quiet reading time with library book
  • Assign literary analysis jigsaw activities
  • Question Trail for “Fish Cheeks”
  • Finish your neon literary analysis handout if you did not do so today in class.  Due tomorrow at the beginning of class.
  • Read your library book.
  • Bring your library book tonight.

Period 8-4:

  • Turn in homework
  • Question Trail for “Fish Cheeks”

  • Review instructions for writing strong commentary for explaining our Notice and Note signposts in the story:  Aha! Moment; Words of the Wiser; Tough Questions.  Please see blue photo below.

  • All period to work on “Fish Cheeks” reflection packet.

  • If you did not finish your “Fish Cheeks” reflection packet, complete tonight and be ready to turn in at the beginning of class tomorrow.
