Reminder:  All of my classes will take the Scholastic Reading Inventory on Monday, August 26, 2019 to get a current assessment of your child’s Lexile reading level.

Today’s Summary

Period 8-1:

  • Read Sections 4 and 5 together of “Raymond’s Run”
  • Complete your individual reading reflections
  • Individual, Partner, or Triangle Group Reading and finishing reflections for “Raymond’s Run”
  • If you finish early, read your library book or see me to get moved into our class section for Membean Vocabulary.

Period 8-4:

  • Complete Section 3 of your graphic organizer. Keep this in your binder for tomorrow along with the new pages I added to your graphic organizer “packet” today.
  • Complete the Quickwrite.
  • Return your copy of the story.
  • Get a Chromebook.
  • Get a copy of the neon “Best of Quickwrites” checklist.  Read all the instructions at the top of the page!  (Items 1-4)
  • Go to Canvas and go to Assignments
  • Complete your “Best of Quickwrites” assignment.  Be sure to read all instructions for writing and submitting.
  • Turn in your bundled Quickwrites with the neon sheet stapled to the top.
  • If you finish early, see me to get changed over to our class for Membean.

Period 8-5

  • Get a copy of the neon “Best of Quickwrites” checklist.  Read all the instructions at the top of the page!  (Items 1-4)
  • Go to Canvas and go to Assignments
  • Complete your “Best of Quickwrites” assignment.  Be sure to read all instructions for writing and submitting.
  • Turn in your bundled Quickwrites with the neon sheet stapled to the top.
  • Finish your work from Wednesday on Sections 1 and 2 of the graphic organizer for “Raymond’s Run” if you did not complete it yesterday in class.
  • Read Section 3 of “Raymond’s Run”Complete Section 3 of your graphic organizer. Keep this in your binder for tomorrow along with the new pages I added to your graphic organizer “packet” today.
  • Complete the Quickwrite.
  • Return your copy of the story.
  • If you finish early, you may read your library book or see Ms. Hamilton to do Membean.

Period 8-6

  • Complete the Quickwrite.
  • Complete Sections 1, 2, and 3 of your graphic organizer if you did not do so yesterday.
  • Keep this (your graphic organizer) in your binder for tomorrow.
  • Return your copy of the story.
  • Get a Chromebook.
  • Get a copy of the neon “Best of Quickwrites” checklist. READ STEPS 1-4 at the top.
  • Go to Canvas.
  • Go to Assignments.
  • Complete your “Best of Quickwrites” assignment. Read ALL the instructions in the assignment. SUBMIT your work in Canvas.
  • Turn in your bundled Quickwrites.
  • See me to get changed over to our class for Membean.

  • 1st Period:
    • “Ticket in the Door” reflections on our pre-reading station work from Monday and Tuesday
    • Library book reading time
    • Read Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the short story “Raymond’s Run” together
    • Complete active reading graphic organizer for Sections 1, 2, and 3
    • Complete today’s Quickwrite–a response to the story “Raymond’s Run”
    • We should complete the story tomorrow in class.
  • 4th Period:
    • 1st 10 Minutes:  complete prep work for Table Talk groups based on our six pre-reading story stations we worked on Monday and Tuesday
    • Table Talk groups share out to whole class
    • Copy notes on HOTS question stems
    • Read Sections 1, 2, and 3 together of the short story “Raymond’s Run”
    • Complete Sections 1 and 2 of our reading graphic organizer; begin section 3.  We will finish Section 3 as our warm-up tomorrow.
  • 5th Period:
    • Complete prep work for Table Talk groups based on our six pre-reading story stations we worked on Monday and Tuesday
    • Table Talk groups share out to whole class
    • Copy notes on HOTS question stems
    • Read Sections 1 and 2  together of the short story “Raymond’s Run”
    • Complete Sections 1 and 2 of our reading graphic organizer–turn in before you leave class today.
  • 6th Period

Today we finished Pre-Reading station work for our first short story we’ll read this week, “Raymond’s Run.”

1st Period:  Independent reading based Quickwrite + completion of station work and table talk.

4th Period:  Completion of independent station work and started table talk work; we will finish table talk tomorrow.  Students also completed a Quickwrite.

5th Period: Quickwrite + Completion of independent station work; students voted on top choices to help lead station table talk tomorrow.

6th Period:  Quickwrite + Completion of independent station work; students voted on top choices to help lead station table talk tomorrow.
