Period 8-1

  1.  Warm-Up:  Review “Names” by Julia Alvarez and short story terms with a Gimkit review game!
  2.   Watch Socratic Seminars in action and jot down your noticings; class discussion about Socratic Seminar because we will be doing one next week over “Names,” “Fish Cheeks,” “I Ask My Mother to Sing,” “Peaches,” and/OR the informational text articles we read/discussed on Wednesday.
  3. Review Socratic Seminar question types and examples (you have these to use at your table area in the neon pouches).
  4.  Either finish your literary elements work from Thursday or if you have finished, begin working on your gold Socratic Seminar questions.  We will finish these on Monday.

Read your library book 15 minutes.


Period 8-4

  1.  Warm-Up:  Membean 10 Question Assessment
  2.  After lunch:  watch Socratic Seminars in action and jot down your noticings; class discussion about Socratic Seminar because we will be doing one next week over “Names,” “Fish Cheeks,” “I Ask My Mother to Sing,” “Peaches,” and/OR the informational text articles we read/discussed on Wednesday.
  3. Review Socratic Seminar question types and examples (you have these to use at your table area in the neon pouches).
  4.  Either finish your literary elements work from Thursday or if you have finished, begin working on your gold Socratic Seminar questions.  We will finish these on Monday.  Students who did not finish the literary elements graphic organizer we worked on Thursday and today should complete for homework this weekend and be ready to turn in at the beginning of class on Monday.  

If you want to work on your Socratic Seminar questions over the weekend, you may do so.

Period 8-5

  2. Library book reading time
  3. Last 10 minutes:  watch Socratic Seminars in action and jot down your noticings; class discussion about Socratic Seminar because we will be doing one next week over “The Medicine Bag,” “Fish Cheeks,” “I Ask My Mother to Sing,” and/OR the informational text articles we read/discussed on Wednesday.

Period 8-6

  1. Warm-Up:  Membean 10 Question Assessment
  2. Library book reading time
  3.  Review types of Socratic Seminar questions and examples of questions; work on developing questions for next week’s seminar.  We will finish our question work on Monday for the Tuesday seminar.
